The other morning, after visiting a museum to see a Bruegel painting, I foolishly decided to turn left instead of right. That led me on one of my very long shortcuts into unknown territory. However, I felt my use of a creative route had been rewarded when I stumbled across this relic from the past, the sign that a carpenter had once had his shop here. Even the poster remnants on the shutters spoke of an era long gone.
As I walked further into the neighbourhood, I was suddenly stopped by a bloke who said, in Italian “You can’t go any further, this is a movie set.” So much for my interpretation of what I had seen!
The same crew were just down the street from my apartment yesterday. I wonder what movie (or TV series) they were filming?

Be a bit like bumping into me in Bourke Street Mall
Notice how I cater to a Victorian,
I could have said Rundle Street or Pitt Street but I was being nice 😀

Only just now catching up with this and all the comments. What a fun adventure, and you, now, so close to stardom. Any day now you shall be chosen.
I also love that you are throwing out the Italian hints, gets me to thinking about my far too rusty scant knowledge. It took me a bit, but I finally deconstructed it: fa legna meria – make wood measure = carpenter. Who’da thunk?

Hey, good for you, another star student! Italian is really a very logical language … sometimes! See ya, GG.

Did you see Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck anywhere? I loved Venetian Holiday.

As a matter of fact, they were Rome-ing around, Andrew.

Oh, you might have been “discovered” if you’d ventured any further. What a spoil sport that man was.

I’ve done an online search that gave me no results, but I no doubt asked the wrong question. I put this into the search engine: “when Yvonne got lost in Naples what film was being shot by rude people who turned her away.” You’d think that would bring results, eh, arlingwoman ?

😉 Maybe Movies being filmed in Naples? Or you could ask the neighbors….It’s usually in the papers.

That search just gave me movies that have been filmed here. I’ll ask my landlord!

Daily saving finishes today (Easter Sunday and April Fools) – I dislike sleeping (it’s exciting to be up and about is it not?) So I got up at 4am thinking it was 5am, but in fact it was 3am! By the time I discovered the error the coffee was made.

I’m glad you took a creative route, because I just love this story. Maybe if you keep stalking them, they’ll hire you as an extra!

Somehow, I don’t think they’re that desperate, Susie. 🙂

A really funny story. With a little padding it could become a short-story for a magazine. But what a lovely thing to happen.

I felt really goofy when I realised it was a movie set. The little part I saw was so out of sync with the rest of the neighbourhood.

And now my favorite tourist tip…. always at the top of the list is to ” get lost”! I just did it the other day when my volunteer driver was telling me about his up coming Mediterranean cruise…that happens to end in Venice.

He’s guaranteed to get lost in Venice, Michelle.

That is too funny! I would’ve been dreaming all about how it must have been way back when and stumbled right into the shoot! I love having the time to get lost when we travel. If you have patience (and don’t panic), it usually turns out to be for the best! Love this post. xx

Hi, Stalker Number One. You’re so right, it’s things like this that become the vivid fragments of our travels. At least I’m totting up those steps on the pedometer!

It is a series about an ex-pat Canadian Woman trying to escape from her Australian Connections by immersing herself in Italian life. It is going to be a blockbuster.

That made me chuckle, Giovanni-Paolo, especially after going on an underground tour today, which emerged far from the origin. I had absolutely no idea in which direction to head for home. Obviously, I got here, but my feet aren’t speaking to me!

It sure reminds me of early visits to Venice, when I’d be near despair that I’d ever find my way home. There are so many tempting side streets to explore.
