I like it when the water of the lagoon reflects the sky.
The Salute, silhouetted against the sunset.
Even the jet contrails got into the act.
A naval destroyer is in town for a couple of days. The public is allowed on board; I’m soon going to see how long the queue is!
The falling sun cast a gentle light on the lute player.
Awesome sunset photos!!!

Magical. The lute player image is worth of Titian.

It was wonderful light that evening, and he always looks like he’s stepped out of another century!

I found him on YouTube. I’ll email you the “lovely link”.

Thanks Yvonne for sharing the link. It’s a very moving article. I hope to run into Boka Bence next time I’m in Venice.

One of the many things I love about Venice at this time of year! The sunsets are so gorgeous and they seem to go on forever.
I haven’t made it up for any sunrises either….yet. Maybe next time.

Honestly, I am often up at that time of the day…just not dressed for going out….and since the apartment where I stay faces north….can’t get a sunrise shot out the window.

Gorgeous. I especially liked the lute player

I don’t know why, but WordPress is slack about showing some comments. So, please excuse the late response, Derrick.

The lute player looks like he might be able to use his instrument to gaff a fish or two in the canal. Great photos, Yvonne.

I’ll ask him, next time I see him, Bruce. By the way, you might like to check your blog. It seems that when your back is turned, strange things happen!

PS He used to be a guitar player, then a friend made the lute for him, Bruce.

It’s so gentle in an often raucous city.

Raucous? You make me feel like a period piece. Last time I was in Venice (1988, shock/horror) I was struck by how quiet it was. No cars.

Now, there are beggars and illegal sales people and quite a large number of tourists …

Well, when I was there (late June) I feared large mobs of tourists, having Been Warned. I’d also been told Venice would be hot, dirty, and smelly. None of these applied, so I figured I was just in advance of the tourist season. OK. times change. But I thought winter would still be quiet?

Yes, winter is quiet. I was referring to times when you’d hear him playing, when it’s not so quiet! He chooses area like the top of the Accademia Bridge, and sotoportego near the Salute church, a little out of the way campo.

What is water? It’s too darn hot and dry here abouts. But your photographs are really quite exquisite tonight.

I just heard from my cat/house sitter. She’s having trouble getting windows open at my place. I wonder if they’ve expanded a bit with the heat you’re having?
I’m glad the photos gave you pleasure. Hey! I got on the destroyer, but they booted me off again.

Hi Yvonne! Your sunset pictures are great! I like all but the one with the church is my favourite. I have just published a post with a similar red orange photo with A similar composition, but taken in Amsterdam. Hope you like it too! Cheers!
