A list with a difference from Lisa

Lisa  arlingwoman  has donated another of her lists, this time it’s a ‘to do’ list. I wonder how many of you prepare that type of list, to help organise your life? There’s something satisfying about crossing off another completed task, isn’t there?
Lisa said: Here is the list of things I was wanting to get done this week and weekend.  I’ve still got another day before the new list starts up!
I hope it amuses and intrigues!

Lisa list

She had a few things yet to do, I hope she did get them all out of the way before the next list was prepared.

Is that ‘Review text for beading’? What’s that all about, I wonder.

And ‘Fencing’. Is that as in, en garde, do you think? Or, more along the line of barbed wire, perhaps?

Thank you, Lisa, for another list. It made a change from groceries and stuff.

Thanks for coming by! How did you get a hold of my blog? (just curious) My take on the fencing is not the sport, but the fence for a yard:)

  3. A wonderful, interesting list and fun ponderings and wonderings about the list! 🙂 I’m like “Hmm….” on the fencing, too! 🙂
I love lists! I love making lists! I love crossing things off of lists! And if in my errands, and To Do’s For Today, I complete something that was NOT on the list…I add it to the list just so I can cross it off the list! HA!!! 😀
I could and do-do similar things as Lisa…except I don’t like washing windows! I did that enough as a child! 😮
    HUGS!!! 🙂
    PS…how are you feeling today?!

  4. It’s good to learn folks are still sending out physical cards to friends and family.

  5. I’m a big fan of “to do” lists except when the list grows longer before I can make it shorter. I find if I’m busy and I write a list, all the things I want to do stop burbling around in my head and I can get on with things. Mr ET hates it if I write a list for him though. He’s not a list person.

  6. Hmmm….Not too many questions about this one, but “review text for reading” refers to the fact I’m on a rotation at church as a lector–someone who reads one of the lessons. It’s always a good idea to review it first in case there are unpronounceable names or strings of long clauses…”fencing”–hate to disappoint everyone, but it was deer fencing, a lovely flexible stuff that is easier to work with than chicken wire. I used part of it to fence out rabbits, otherwise known as evil lagomorphs…So happy to get so much credit for the window washing. I hate dirty windows a LOT more than I hat washing them, so that now got done when I had a free hour…

    • Thanks, Lisa! You have been a busy woman, for sure.

I wonder which household task is the one that most often gets shuttled to the bottom of our lists? I’ve just done the inside of my windows, which revealed there is a whole other side to the story!

      • With me, the thing that gets scuttled is something I have to drive somewhere to do, which is why the fence stayed on the list for weeks. Otherwise, it’s just prioritizing… I agree doing the outside of windows is a pain and then if there’s a streak once you’re done, ugh.

  7. I have a few friends who go by the name of ‘anon’. Here is what one commented, via an email ‘I live for lists. If I do something that wasn’t on the list, I write it on just so I can then cross it off!’

How many of you relate to that?

  8. This a very good way to get things done. I have used this system always, at work and at home. I make a list, just like Lisa. I feel it is like an order to do them today, not tomorrow.

    • It does focus our attention, and it is SO satisfying to cross something off.

I’ve got one list that says: write procedures. But there are so many procedures to be done. I’d better list them, so I can see if i am making progress!

    • I find organizing a list helps me organize my time as well. Otherwise, I can start to muddle about doing one thing and then another and never quite finishing up. And crossing off is SOOOOO satisfying!

  9. An interesting variation. Our most interesting example is the one Jackie prepares for Aaron. Would you like one?

  10. As much as I love ticking boxes on my lists, I often fail – I get sidetracked too easily!

  11. On the radio this morning I was listening to a couple on a remote property in Qld talking about how they’d just finished a wild dog-proof fence, so they hope to preserve what sheep the drought has not taken. I can’t remember how many kilometres, but it was a lot! Perhaps your reader was helping them?

  12. Nice to have “wash windows” crossed off the list.

  13. Perhaps she took fencing lessons. I have ‘lawyer’ on my list this Monday at 2.30. I am surprised she had ticked off washing windows. It takes an iron will to achieve that chore.

    • I hope she is taking fencing lessons, that would be very exotic!

You’ll be glad to have the lawyer visit behind you, I would think.

Cleaning windows bestows instant Sainthood, I have heard. At this time of year, I hate what the falling sun reveals about my southern windows.

    • Alas, while I’ve thought about fencing lessons, this was fencing for the garden to keep rabbits out. As for windows, mine are pretty easy to wash because they pop out of the frame and hinge in, so doing the inside and out is made easier, if not expeditious.

  14. I make to do lists all the time, it keeps me on track because if it’s written down it has to be done. I just love ticking off those boxes, if left unticked then I’ve failed the tasks

Maybe she needed to get the fencing fixed! 😀

  15. I used to enjoy making lists of to-dos. I would have a list for ‘over the summer holidays’. Include things like make bed, tidy up shed, plough the 100 acre paddock, build a bluestone wall for her new garden, visit brother. That’d be five things. Cross off the first one, cross off the last one, cross off number two. That’s 60% done. Now I’d better get on with the 100 acre paddock. That will be the most enjoyable job of all. Just about finished. Might have to leave anything else for the next list.
