A capital list

This was kindly donated by Lou, who lives in Melbourne, the capital city of the state of  Victoria.

I had to ask who or what San P. was. I had the idea it was an abbreviation for some Saint! Lou set me straight. Let’s see how many of you immediately know what this shopper needed.

And, look Susie … wine! 🙂

Thank you, Lou, for keeping your eyes open on our behalf.

  1. Ciao Yvonne,

    • Hi, Bridget. Same here, I always look forward to what folks will have to say in the comments. We sometimes wander down unexpected paths, and that’s good.

I hope you folks are in rude good health. xx

  2. I always write a detailed shopping list and then head to town. When I get to the supermarket I always remember that the shopping list is still on the kitchen bench. 🙂

  3. My money’s on the San Pellegrino. That’s definitely a capital ‘P’. And there’s no neural relationship for jogging the memory of the other suggestion, (I just made that up to sound intelligent) which these days would be just listed as “pads”. In any case, my memory of the monthly visitor was that is was so painful I wouldn’t have been contemplating a DIY project on top of it!

    • Oh, G.G., My apologies, I just found your highly intelligent comment.

It is far too long ago for me to have many memories about how I would have noted them on my list. And, San Pellegrino was totally unknown to me, ‘way back then.

  4. That’s an intriguing combination – Coles and Bunnings I’d say. I wonder what project was going on at home.

Wine, yay! I immediately thought San Pellegrino. Perhaps the intent is to make a spritz bianco?

  6. First thing that came into my head was Sanitary Pads. For some reason it used to be unmentionable, therefore makes sense not to write it full. 🙂

    • Yes, no way would I write out the whole thing, all those decades ago! Our government has just recently taken the GST (10 % goods and services tax) off sanitary needs. It was gratifying to hear some of the stuffed shirt politicians say “tampons” on the news.

  8. Sand Paper for the paint project?!

If I had to do a paint project, I’d want some wine AND some tortilla chips and guac to help me survive! 😉 😀 Ha! Actually, I enjoy paint projects!

I hope they remembered to pick up the shirts! I’d probably get home with everything but the shirts and then go, “Oh, sh*t, I forgot the shirts!” 😉 😛
    HUGS!!! 🙂

  9. With a shopping list that size I wonder why they’d bother writing it, perhaps the writer is going senile like me says he as he wanders back to his kitchen

  10. I was brought up sheltered among flowers and lute music so Lou’s explanation is way above my head – as is San Pelligrino (which is presumably some sort of dishwashing liquid or something akin). My explanation of the SAN P is this: it is written after TOSTITOS, and there is a variety of tostitos that uses porcine enzymes. The SAN P is written with a different pen, so presumably someone added after TOSTITOS not to get the pork variety: SAN P = SANS PORCINE ENZYMES. (Glad to be of help).

    San Pellegrino of course!

    • That was my thought too, Victoria (hey, a stately name, and I’m just doing a short course about Queen Victoria!). I’ll paste what Lou said to me : ” I imagine half the population, prior to menopause might know. You and I might struggle to remember.” So, that led me onto a different path of thought!

      • Just to say that I live on Victoria’s Island (the Isle of Wight UK) where she and Albert built their family home (a really lovely place to visit and a real family home, full of photographs and memories of the children). Should you need any information, give me a shout.
And, I vote for San Pelligrino.

        • Hi, Mari. I’ll mention what you said to our course leader. She is one of a group of world wide experts on Victoria who are planning the same celebrations for the 200th anniversary of her birth.
The beauty of the lists is that we can make of them whatever we want!

    San Pellegrino?

    • Hi, Caroline, are you in your beautiful new place now?
I thought of San Pelligrino, also, but here’s what Lou had to say ” I imagine half the population, prior to menopause might know. You and I might struggle to remember.” She was right about the struggle to recall! ❤

Aha! Now I get it. I read yesterday there is to be a new emoji for that but I won’t use one because a) it’s not out until March and b) i don’t know how to do them anyway!

  15. Sand paper or Sauvignon Blanc. I think sand paper as paint brushes and dusters are on the list as well. Perhaps both, with wine quaffing after the paint job.
