Again, nothing too demanding for you folks, since it is the weekend. Just a few interesting things to be seen on walls, when you pause to take a wee rest.
But, isn’t it frustrating not to know the story behind this one?
Please don’t ask where this was, I’d only be forced to lie to you.
And, a reminder that we’re all mortal.
And for Jane, a stemma.
The mortality reminder would confuse an archaeologist – the skeleton of wings and arms?

Well, they’d surely be earning their keep with that one, Hilary!

Looks like an Olympic javelin thrower to me.

And, someone else suggested a discus thrower. What do you make of the structure at the right of the fragment?

Those two sitting around the stemma look like troublemakers to me! I think they just fell out of the local drinking hole! Hope you’re having a wonderful time in Rome….good eats and good vino! 🙂 xx

I’m enjoying being in Trastevere, the Esquilino district was a tad quiet. I just came home from dinner with a lovely Roman family, a special experience for me.

Those guys holding the stemma…look like they get their feet in it all the time! Normally the stemma holders are a lot less roguish it seems to me !

They are the photo-bombers of this stemma, for sure, Jane!

It’s a bit like Venice, it’s easier to focus on the small things. The big things are over whelming.

Well, yes and no! I’d like some answers, but where in heck would we get them?

The people in that first sequence look like they’ve been competing in the discus at the Commonwealth Games. We had great seats at Carrara Stadium very close to the discus net and that is exactly how all the athletes looked. 🙂

That’s exactly what I thought, just before I pressed Publish. Then, I waited to see who thinks as I do! 🙂
