Tucked into a curve of the Ovens River near the town of Myrtleford, is a shady picnic ground sponsored by the Apex Club.
There is a toilet block that was made from unpainted utilitarian concrete blocks. Someone made a decision, and provided the money, to turn the building into a work of art.
Here’s what it looks like now.
These are the entries to the male and female toilets.
On the other end of the building, there is an electric barbeque. The artists have provided a backdrop of Lake Buffalo to go with the task of grilling sausages, steak, etc.
Now, can someone identify this native bird?
Myrtleford is lucky, in that the level of graffiti is relatively minor. So this little building in the park will hopefully remain a source of pride to those who were responsible for its beautification.
A big thank you to the artists, and to whoever had the foresight to enable this work to be done.
Excellent content

The bird’s actually a regent honey-eater, Xanthomyza phrygia, and its range is from northern NSW/QLD border down the east coast strip to north-eastern VIC. Sorry, I’m a bit of a bird fan… Love the scenic loos, maybe I’ll get to visit them some day…

What a beautiful peaceful place!
And the artists added to the beauty! Way to go, artists!
(Public facilities are necessary and appreciated, but often do the opposite of add beauty.)

There are quite a few places like this in the area. But this one takes the prize for attractive ‘facilities’.

Glad to see you writing, Yvonne! This is a really beautiful …. um…. toilet. But for a mural, a wall is a wall, no? And picnic grounds as well. Neat.

I went back today, to check the facilities, as requested by m’lord. The council gardeners were out mowing the grass to keep it all tidy.
I’ll be writing more in a few weeks when my feet hit Italian soil again. 🙂

How wonderful! There should be much more of this type of thing. Public toilets in Italy are practically non existent and you would certailnly never see anything like this. I am in glorious Tuscany right now in beautiful winter weather.

As an aside Yvonne, I love your ‘Font’, what is it , if I may be so bold. I suppose it comes with the theme you use, or have you worked out how to improve on the rubbish that WordPress throws at us by way of ‘Fonts’? 😦
LikeLiked by 1 person
It was the freebie, and I don’t know what it is. I’m too cheap to pay for a different theme so I would have a choice of fonts. Thanks for telling me you approve of it.

It’s a very attractive Font Yvonne, WP are as tight as a fishes you know what when it comes to anything, I dread to think how much I pay for the premium which doesn’t give much away

It would be an absolute joy, when, to be in need of a lavatory, one should come across one such as this, what pleasant memories it would instill. That, of course, is on the assumption that the inside, is as glorious as the out!

I’m a total failure, m’lord. I clear forgot to take my research to a logical conclusion. When I’m next near that park, I will ensure i check at least one side of the story, just for you.

I can now report that it gets 8 out of 10 for the facilities. It loses points because there is only cold water, no soap and no way to dry your hands.
LikeLiked by 2 people
I’d give it a 0/100, cold water’s okay, but soap or some suitable substitute is a must. John better hold on ’til he gets home!
