I have no idea what I’d do in such a situation. Have any of you faced something like this? How did you handle it?
It makes me feel sad, frustrated, powerless. And, I’m not even the victim.
~New Neighbours~ It all started over parking ! Funny, but what occurred between my neighbours is serious and ongoing. To set the scene, the building I live in is in two halves. One side is a 3 storey single property and my side is divided into three apartments. The two cats and I own the […]
Indeed, it was very sad to read about Ralph’s nasty NewN 😦
But people sometimes need to take an honest look at themselve…
So it was great news when Ralph replied to my comment, saying
how the NewN wife had apologized with offerings for restitution!
Hopefully now, peace will prevail! 🙂 💜 Jackie@KWH

I just went and read that. It makes a nicer ending to this episode.

non ho ( fortunatamente ) mai provato e quindi non ho idea di come ci si puo’ sentire in una simile situazioni, si potrebbero avere reazioni molto diverse, tutte quante sarebbero comunque tristissime

Makes you want to go and live in a cabin in the woods, doesn’t it?😱

It would indeed.
Ralph said that, after a period of peace, she has started her game of uproar again.

I had a situation with tenants, the surrounding neighbors, and an HOA. I had to mitigate between all of them. It was not fun. Just wrote about it in my blog…

I just read about the situation on your blog, and the manner in which you handled it. Well done! I also read about the case of the strange tenant and the limes in the drain pipes. I don’t think I’d want to be a landlord. 🙂

There is this misplaced fantasy about owning investment properties as a glamorous ordeal. Two days ago I was putting my hand down a toilet to attempt to unclog it, came out holding a plunger and smelling like a toilet, then hopped in my old work van that I use to carry tools and debris…..I can hire out but I am pretty handy so I just do it myself. Not glamorous….lol….although I clean up pretty good…at least that is what the ladies tell me….:P

We used to live near the station where commuters took the train into London. One morning I went to get in my car and found a young woman parking over my driveway. I said that I wouldn’t be able to get my car out. She asked me where I worked. I said, ‘In town.’ (about two miles away). She said,’ Well you can walk then, can’t you!’ Nothing I could do as, by the time the police could have become involved, I would have been late for work.

What goes through the minds of some people to do things like that? You must have been doing some gnashing of teeth over that incident. Did she keep parking her car there, or once she won the battle did she withdraw?

She only did that once but was always an inconsiderate parker. Her car wouldn’t start one evening and NO-ONE went out to help. Karma.

How awful! 😦 I hope they either move or become good neighbors/better people.
It’s sad when you can’t feel safe or comfortable in your own place because you have bad neighbors. 😦
Good neighbors are such a god-send and a joy.
(((HUGS)))
PS…Makes me think of the Robert Frost poem that includes the line: “Good fences make good neighbors.”

Every time I have moved, I didn’t give a thought to what my neighbours might be like. So far, I’ve been very lucky!
How’s everything with you? ❤

I’ve only had a bad neighbor once in my life…so I’ve been very lucky, too! Right now I have great neighbors!
I’m good! How are you doing?
My oncologist appointment went well…they said “everything looks good”…but they always do a test, so I await the results. I’ll post when I find out the results!

Ralph says in a comment: ” . . . I know that the NewN are miserable as they had to close their business and sold their home in another country for two thirds of its value. So I think their pent up anger is being released against this friendly young family. . . . ”
It seems, they calmed now down somewhat. It is frustrating, when people lash out at innocent people because their built up anger gets the better of them. I hope they’ll turn around eventually and show a bit of kindness towards the people they so very wrongly abused. They had no reason to be nasty towards their neighbours!

I hope they have calmed down too, auntyuta. They did go through a bad time. We react in many different ways to the troubles and disappointments life puts in our paths. Some of us succumb to depression, others turn the rage to outside targets.

It does sound like she has some problem, Michel. Imagine going through life like that, suspicious and mean.
How is your dear wife? ❤

I wonder what compels people to act like that?

Sounds like Mrs NewN has a mental health problem. The intervention of the police seems to have calmed things down, and once the builders finish their work things might calm down even more. (Her house finished, and her allies gone.) Here’s hoping! But the tyre-slashing is downright nasty.

I wonder if you are right in your ‘diagnosis’ toutparmoi. I can’t imagine slashing someone’s tires. 😦

This was a miserable story, I didn’t like the sound of it at all. I’ve left a comment on their site. For a couple of stressful years I acted as harassment officer at my workplace. Many bullies genuinely see themselves as victims, but they cause untold misery and I feel for the people concerned.

They seem to know just how to make life dreadful for their chosen victims! I hope peace and quiet will remain now.

My parents had neighbours just like that! Solution: they waited for the neighbours to die – which they did eventually!

We have actually sold our house and moved from a terrible situation. In all fairness we were planning to move but the old neighbors who seemed to have a break with sanity, sped up the plans.

I hope whoever bought your place has better luck with those neighbours, Sue.

Yvonne in the months before we sold we did a massive amount of landscaping in our backyard bringing in huge trees and a privacy fence. Our parting gift to them. They have now been there for four years so my guess is it all worked out.

If it is criminal activity report it. Violence, thefts etc.

It sounds like the police can’t really do much, but having them speak to the new neighbours does seem to have calmed them a bit. I hope that lasts.

I have no answer, but this resonates so well with me because a bullying (downstairs) neighbour like that dominated my entire childhood.

How awful for Ralph’s lovely friends. But, those new neighbours have gone all quiet. Surely the police can at least remove the illegal yellow lines.
