This is a fun, fresh blog that I follow. Maybe we can find world-wide shopping lists for Paul to share.
Do visit his blog, it’s interesting to see what he finds, and what he interprets about the people who wrote the lists.
Paul would love to receive lists from around the globe, so if you feel like being part of that, here is his email address:
“Hi, Please send any lists to addresstogiveaway@gmail.com saying where and when you found the lists and I will post them on the blog. Many thanks!“
The Shopping Lists - A Collection of Found Shopping Lists
The international debut for http://www.theshoppinglists.com
This list was VERY kindly supplied by Yvonne, she says:
“I found this list in the Coles Supermarket, Myrtleford, Victoria, Australia on 22 September. Looks like some hearty pea and ham soup is going to be on the menu!”
Cheese, cream, apples, veg’s, dinner, ham hock, split peas.
Thanks Yvonne, if you find any more lists, please keep them coming!
Used to use “Alilaguna”, but tend now to find ‘bus from Marco Polo and then vap to nearest stop (very near) on Grand Canal the easiest. Only a short case-trundle then. Glad “they” have upgraded the Airport end for boats – it was a long downhill to a quite chilly stop at the waterside, wasn’t it?
Now: does that mean we are a large part of the horde – or than we are a benevolent portion of the horde??

Oh, the latter, of course!

That’s most of the reason why we never go in “the Season” – happier with wellies than a sun-block, too. We do try our best to avoid the hordes … but I suppose we’re (gulp) part of them! Oh dear…..

“The Season” seems endless in Venice now. 😦 You’re a good part of the horde.
Do you come into Venice via water (or bus to Piazzale Roma)? The upgrade at the docking area of the airport has been finished, very posh it looks!

I am a bit worried. Have you stopped blogging or what?

I just have nothing much to say these days, John. I’ve got a trip to Naples in 2017, that will no doubt inspire me again. Thanks for noticing, by the way!

I love that blog! It was a stroke of genius, thinking of posting such a simple thing as shopping lists. Why didn’t we think of it first?

That was very distracting… I went to the website. How can I possibly be interested in whether a stranger wants spagbol sauce or pink biscuits? Humans are funny.

I hope lots of people become list spotters for you. Did you see calmgrove’s suggestion that this be labelled ‘listomania’?

I christen this obsession listomania! (Not to be confused with Lisztomania, the 19C adulation of Franz Liszt and a curious 60s film if the same name!)

Hah! I think Paul will like that.

My ex-husband used to add things to my lists, intending to amuse me. One of the most memorable additions was, “bolts for neck” (referring to Dr. Frankenstein’s monster whose head was attached with bolts, in case you grew up in a vacuum). I still miss that man ~sigh~

It would have been a little surprise each time you went shopping, Judy.
So, do you have a current list to share with Paul?

Such neat handwriting. Now we should guess the writer’s age.Love the question mark on the list- some random shopping about to occur for dinner.
LikeLiked by 2 people
OK, what age do you think the shopper was?

My guess is around 55-60.

I happen to know the list writer, Francesca, and she’ll never see her 70s again. 🙂

wow, such wonderful handwriting- neat, just like my mother’s.

I think the shopper is a woman, and more than seventy years old, though not aged enough to have shaky hands. The handwriting tells me this…it is a lovely cursive penmanship based on one of the Renaissance Italian Writing Masters, such as Palatino, that was carefully taught to children in the first half of the twentieth century when school desks still had inkwells and the ballpoint pen hadn’t yet been invented..The ham hock and split peas will take long, slow cooking, so they are not for this evening’s dinner, but a future occasion. That’s why tonight’s dinner has a question mark….she is going to see what she is inspired to have once she’s in the store….something quick and simple to fix. Otherwise she is buying classic household staples—no so-called health food, and no junk food….another clue to her age. How’s that, Yvonne?

Spot on, and she had to have something quick and easy for dinner before she went to line dancing! 🙂
