I’ve sometimes seen a two or more elderly ladies sitting outside for a late afternoon spritz and no doubt a gossip, here in Venice, and thought how enviable that looks – much more fun than the equivalent in Britain! (Cup of tea in a department store?) Maybe those ladies don’t have husbands they have to cook for? 🙂

With a huge garden (not my idea ) I learned very quickly that re-tired just meant to get tired all over again. Also a better retirement fund would have helped. Damn the Global Financial Crisis.

These wonderful gentlemen are living the dream! What a great way to spend the day. We spent seven weeks away on our road trip and I told everyone then it was retirement practice. While others complain when they have another birthday I just see the light at the end of the retirement tunnel growing a little brighter every year. Looking forward to that time of life.

Well, technically only 2.5 years but I would like to work at least part time until I’m 60. I’m lucky that I enjoy my job and work with wonderful colleagues. We’ll see…

That’s my plan. I can’t see me having a problem walking away when the time comes though. I have so much to do…writing, quilting, crochet, gardening and travelling of course.

Well, I had a tiny bit of envy looking at those guys and thinking of their wives…and then a good chuckle at all your comments! I’ll retire in a few years and hope I can travel and garden and lie in bed in the morning…

I totally dread those retirement days because you can’t play dominoes the whole day. When I retire, I’d love to travel and travel and travel. Have a pleasant Friday. Don’t we all love the fact that Friday is around the corner?

Wish I could retire too, think its 65 here in UK for women, my travel buddy Teresa retired last year and says she doesn’t know how she found the time to work !

No matter how much you loved your job there is just something about doing what you want whenever you want!
Including spending months at a time in Venice and any other place you want to be.
People still wish me a nice weekend. Ha, I also have to look at the calendar to see what day it is and to remind me when it’s Tueasday and time for my Italian class.
Yes, two years in and I still love being retired…and no husband expecting a meal at a certain time of the day..back when I had one I taught him to cook a few simple things…..or make my favorite…reseverations!

Yes, retirement is wonderful! Sheer bliss to turn over in bed in the morning rather than getting out to work. Being “paid” NOT to go to work…. Being able to take holidays when you want to. Long lazy days spent … doing nothing much.
The trick, apparently, is to run out of money the day after you fall off the perch!

oh man, I can not WAIT to be retired. But the pension/retirement age keeps going up here in the UK. So really, by the time I retire and draw a State pension I will be 87. I have to work until I am 87 years young. Good grief. Nice picture BTW! 😉

I’ve noticed this in Spain and Italy, you only see groups of men shooting the breeze. The women have to carry on doing what they’ve always done. It’s not fair, I know, but I’m glad I’m a bloke!

Here I am 🙂 I love being retired! I tell everyone who isn’t they don’t know what they’re missing and they should retire just as soon as they can. They generally look at me like I’m bonkers! 🙂 .

No, I no longer know what day of the week it is and every day is Sunday. I have to watch my diary carefully to make sure I don’t miss appointments – or putting the bins out for the rubbish collectors. I have one friend I meet most days when we walk our dogs who greets me with the day of the week because she knows I will say at some point ‘What day is it?’ 🙂

The days of the week have always been colors, in my mind, so I still remember them. Today, for example, is a reddish bronze, so I know it must be Thursday.
