Proper construction

A little while back, I posted a photo of a construction hanging out over a calle.  building

Here is another, well made, sturdy and quite beautiful, as a bonus. It’s called a liana, and looks out onto a busy canal.

You could spend a lot of time in there, reading or just watching the world go by.

  1. This bonus room looks much sturdier than the other you showed us. I think I would love to spend some time here. 🙂

    • I saw it again yesterday and looked closely. There are doors opening onto the liana from the main part of the home. (Someone commented that the windows didn’t seem to open on this little structure.) A nice comfy chair, a book, a bit of music …

  5. These feel very Turkish to me, but I suppose they’re all over the Mediterranean (for example, Malta has a few examples — perhaps a Venetian import?).

    • I wonder where it did originate?

      • I Googled Venetian Gothic Architecture and Wikipedia says:
Venetian Gothic is a term given to an architectural style combining use of the Gothic lancet arch with Byzantine and Moorish architecture influences. The style originated in 14th century Venice with the confluence of Byzantine styles from Constantinople, Arab influences from Moorish Spain and early Gothic forms from mainland Italy. Chief examples of the style are the Doge’s Palace and the Ca’ d’Oro in Venice.
……………and of course those Venetians were very prolific with their architecture….wanting the places the Republic conquered to look “just like home. I’ve seen them on a tiny island called Antiparos in Greece.

  7. You sure could. I think you should knock on the door and ask to take pictures of the inside.

  8. It looks really nice, but doesn’t look as though the window opens. Perhaps they replace the glass with a screen in summer?

  12. This one looks like an all-weather balcony. At least it isn’t looking at a blank wall.
