Childish dreams

What did you want to be/do when you were a child?

At the time this photo was taken, bare-footed me wanted to marry bare-footed Pat. He was my very best friend (and enemy). I guess his cute little sister Louise would have been flower girl.

That’s one dream that didn’t come true.

  1. That’s sweet! My dream was to be a wildlife photographer. Didn’t happen, of course.

  2. Hi Yvonne,
Sorry I am late to this party – but that is a great picture! I love it. Aren’t you lucky to have it now. So happy all of you – including the dogs ! When I was that age I wanted to marry red headed Brendon. He ran around the playground with a blue towel pinned around his neck – he thought he was Superman. And so did I! Sigh….xo

  3. Now the question is whatever happened to Pat? Or do you know? Such a sweet memory.

  6. I wanted to be either the President or a spy. I’m not telling if the second one came true.

  8. Great photo Yvonne. I really had no idea what I “wanted” to do when I grew up…and for some reason no one ever asked me then. I had no clue that the major part of my life would be helping poor people in the community welfare office….but I’m glad I did. Now I just want to be a Venetian.

    • I cherish all the photos you sent to me, as I had very few of my own. I’m so glad we made contact again after so many years. Are you enjoying Florida? Hugs to you.

We are still here enjoying a lovely fall day…must be here to mark our ballot in our federal election!!! Still trying to figure out who will do the least damage! It was great to make contact again and remarkable that I recognized you after all those years…time has been kind to you!

  13. Lots of dreams come true if you work hard enough at it. My trouble is that I’m lazy.

    • Thank you, Gerard. The dogs Tippy and Tootsie were very much pets. Tootsie had an accident and spent many years pulling herself around by her front legs! There was no thought of ending her life until she was ready to go. She didn’t miss much of the fun.

  16. Oh, what a sweet photo and even sweeter memories! 🙂 Even the pooches look so happy! 🙂
    I wanted to be a professional female baseball player…or a nurse or a teacher. I became a teacher. 🙂
I always hope that all children can have good dreams…and good “When I grow up I want to…”…but, sadly I know some children don’t.

    • Those pooches were an integral part of their family, well loved. Pat and his family lived on the farm about a mile away from ours. There was a good path worn between the 2 farms!

Were you a good baseball player? Did you (or do you) like being a teacher?

Yes, sadly, some children have nightmares, and not much of a future. Hugs to you, Carolyn.

      • I am one of eight kids and have three brothers…so I was a tomboy and was good at all the sports my brothers taught me. 🙂 They said they were training me to be a professional ball player. 🙂
I love being a teacher! I taught Kindergarten for years, and then started teaching adults (parenting and relationship classes, etc).
Do you still keep in touch with Pat or any of his family?!
