Let’s clear out some of the odds and ends today

Yes, it’s time for some spring cleaning, even though it’s the middle of winter here in Dismal Swamp.

These were just too good to throw in the trash, so I’ll chuck them your way instead. Then, it’s your responsibility to get rid of the darn things.

Don’t ask me, I’m no good at interpreting modern art

This one gives me nightmares, and I'm glad to pass it on. It was part of a huge carved wooden mask

  1. The brooms are hilarious. i feel that way about housework. Are there little stones in the bottles of the modern art piece. As far as the ‘scare-crow’ well that’s taking it literally I’d say. What a fun collection.

    • Hi, Sue. I liked the way that broom had been made, I’d have loved to have seen it when it was unused! Yes, some of the little bottles had coloured objects in them, like mini-marbles, as I recall. That was in the Art School of Venice, in Dorsoduro. The students were having an exhibition.

Laurie, my lips are sealed. I was going to write something really witty. It was on the tip of my tongue, but it’s gone now. I shan’t blub – I’ll keep a stiff upper lip.
Was this it? Butter wouldn’t melt in that mouth (unless it was a really hot day).

  4. Hi, everyone. Doesn’t it feel good when you have a good tidy-up, and make room for more odds and ends!

  5. For sure the lips had to go! I like the last one though.

Perhaps the owner of the brush fell in the canal as he or she was sweeping the fondamenta and drowned, thus having a brush with death.
I have to bite my tongue to keep from telling you what I think of number four. I’ve heard of “armchair tourism”, but I’d never seen it in action till I saw number five.
