This particular door knocker can be found along the Zattere in Dorsoduro. There seem to be quite a number of good examples along here.
The details in this battaglio are quite exceptional, just look at the attention paid to the feet, for example.

Wow! What a knocker!
I’m not touching that with a 10 foot pole, Anneli! 🙂
I can always find a lovely picture from Venice on Blueoscar. If I can get out early enough on a Saturday morning I’m hoping to “bump” into him!
Blu is there from about 5:30 until 10, almost every Saturday. He surely knows Venice inside and out.
Guess I know what I’ll be doing with my Saturday mornings in December. Or maybe I can just put a sign on my door “free coffee, just knock”.;-)
He commented once that he had a hard time finding coffee early enough.
Have a look on BluOscar’s site, he’s photographed so many of the doors and knockers http://bluoscar.blogspot.com.au/search/label/Venezia%20%28Porte%29
I’d love to see a photo of your house, it sounds so darn interesting!
love those knockers at bluoscar!
Wow! makes my horseshoe knocker look pretty bad
You’d need a sturdy door to hold this whopper!
mine is steel I live in an old adobe duck club cabin and those guys didn’t want anyone getting their joy juice in the off season it has 4 padlock slots on the outside and weighs a ton, actually a ratty industrial door and not nearly as nice a door. someone should do a study of Italian doors I love them!
