A year ago, I was happily walking around in a much colder place than Dismal Swamp.
It was such a pleasure to see the preparations for the coming Christmas season.
On Calle Larga 22 Marzo
Somewhere in Cannaregio
And, selecting just the right tree, in Cannaregio:

Hi Yvonne – not long now until you’re back for real! You must have been here for the Festa dell Immacolata last year, then – did you find any interesting goings-on?
You know what, Caroline, I absolutely did not! Has Phil found anything to put on his blog? Last year, on 8 December, there was the Grand Liston in Tabarro, beginning in the Piazza. Maybe it’ll be on again this year, and Phil can mourn his opera cape! 🙂
Your word is his command & he’s working on it now! He’s been a bit snowed under a blizzard of new work coming in, plus supporting me moaning about mine 🙂
Ooh, we’d forgotten about the Gran Liston in Tabarro – can you remember what time you saw it? I had a look at the monicadaniele.com website – coincidently we’ve just seen their adverts on vaporetti this week – and it mentions the event but no details for this year. (I see it also mentions no prices for tabarri – edidently POA!)
I think it was around 11, Caroline, but here is a link, with contact details for Monica, who will surely reveal the time for you. I’ll also contact an acquaintance who cuts a fine figure in his tabarro, and send you an email, if he replies!
Now, off to read the latest offering from the Jones boy. 🙂
Polar opposites to our current weather. I feel at least one drip of perspiration fading when I look at these photos of yours, Y. Hope all’s great for you, bella.
Ciao, Shell. How I wish we could be transported to that cool place, or you could drop off in Paris, perhaps? Everything is good, thank you. I hope it’s the same for you.
Not enough for a snow angel! Thank goodness because it would take several strong gondoliers to get me up off the ground and then there would be that soggy, wet, cold butt to deal with(that would not be fun on the vaporetto home). Thanks I’ll stay on my feet, I hope, and take lots of magical pictures. I’m getting in the mood….just put Andrea Bocelli “My Christmas” on the iPod speakers for breakfast.
Hi Yvonne – welcome back! So nice to see your Venice photos again. We were there for the Festa della Salute this year so missed most of the Christmas decorations – except Coin! Even Cantinone gia Schiave didn’t have it’s cork tree decorations up yet.
Hi, Jo. And, it’s nice to be back after a little hiatus!
Festa della Salute looked even more crowded this year. I wonder when the cork tree will go up?
I walked past Il Bottegon this morning & the cork tree is up!
Also found an exciting new contemporary art space nearby – http://www.officinadellezattere.it.
I’ve written to them, to ask what feedback they’re getting. Others using WordPress have commented, unfavourably.
You’re up early, again. 🙂
I did go back to bed and am just now really “up”.
Wow, just checked the forecast…only 34F at the moment and after tomorrow won’t see 40 again for a few days. Those flakes shows for Saturday look big. I can’t, really can’t believe I’m looking forward to snow. Although it does say wind and rain too. Yes, wearing the silkies daily now.
Ciao Bella…. Coffee….need Coffee.
I hope you get snow on Saturday, it’s magic. But, not enough for a snow angel, perhaps.
Oh, you are finding that problem with WordPress too. I was thinking it was just me. I feel like they are changing things every other day.
Yes, I’m enjoying the flurry of activity. Have to get down to the campo to see if they finished putting up what looked like it was going to be a tree.
Aren’t you the Founder of that bad group? 🙂
(WordPress has done something different about adding photos, and some of us who use it, are running into a few snags.) Grumble
I think your friend Sono might be the founder…
Sono IS the Bad Crowd, SusieQ. 🙂
Yvonne, I have a picture of that very tree in Campo Santa Margherita! I also have a picture of a little sign saying “No cacca o pipi” with a drawing of a little dog doing the cacca thing. Of course the little dog doing the cacca has the international NO symbol on him. I will email it to you.
Of course being a member of the Bad Crowd, my taste in subjects to photograph is always questionable. 😉
