Not far from my home is Hasties Swamp, a large seasonal wetland which is a refuge for resident and migratory birds. It was only the birds and me, the day I visited.
The only species out on this day was the pretty Wandering Whistling Ducks.
These fellows amused me, they were lined up like soldiers for inspection.
Then, along came the Sergeant , and they weren’t really standing at attention, nor paying attention.
I really like their markings.
Oh, I think that is a lovely idea.
Yvonne, would the ducks mind?

The ducks wouldn’t mind at all, and it would be a great place to learn rowing, Venetian style. And, there would be no worries about a mooring spot, either.

How beautiful they are! And how perfect that wetland looks for a sandolo! If you imported just one boat from Venice and rowed it yourself with a friend or two, quietly, the ducks wouldn’t mind, would they?

Carina! Were they whistling?

As always, your photos just go to show that there is beauty all around us. You just have to know where to find it.
The ducks at our little neighborhood pond seem a bit plain next to your
fancy fellows.

So, you forgive me for leaving Venice for awhile, then? Just as I left, a tourist drove up, and got out his camera with a honkin’ long lens; I’ll bet he got some delicious shots.

It was such a nice day to sit and watch the water and the ducks. The Swamp is a National Park, and there is a good blind built at the edge of the water. (I’ll let your ducky comment slide by, just this once.)

They are, they are, they are!! I used to see and hear them on the golf course a bit further south, and fell into bird infatuation.
